All patients have to bring all earlier diagnostic reports and summaries of earlier treatments and medicines. All patients should bring the necessary stock of all presently ongoing drugs and medicines. Mobile phones are not allowed in the therapy area. We prefer you to limit usage of mobile phones and laptops. Presently only BSNL mobile has wide range in the campus. One may any favorite calming music with a player. Warm clothing would be required during the months of November to February. Patients who are below age of 18 years and above 60 years, and who are physically or psychologically dependent; with them a responsible attendant is imperative. And finally most important – bring along strong hope and faith – it hastens your healing process.

All patients are expected to arrive on first day before check-in time of 11:00 AM, so that one can participate in all treatments of that day. Generally the check-out time is 8:00 AM.
Why you do not allow bringing the guests, even near and dear ones, who want to learn these modalities?
Guests are always welcome to come and see the campus but if they have to stay at campus without purpose then it becomes a pressure on our limited infrastructure which has been built especially for patients. Moreover, some create indiscipline and misuse the facilities provided for the patients only. Hence we do not encourage patients bringing guests, except in essential case. The patients, who are physically dependent and severely ill, need to bring one responsible care-taker attendant along with them.
Why you are not allowing cars till the room on admission day?
The campus has its own sanctity and tranquility. Such traffic may disturb patients who are walking along the roads as part of their exercise or resting in their rooms. Hence, vehicles are not permitted inside the campus.
Do you have any arrangement for booking air/train tickets for return journey?
The Institute has made arrangement for travel agent whose office is in Kolhapur city; however he could be approached over phone for booking air/train tickets at any time.
Why patients cannot come for less than seven days?
Natural healing is a sure but slow process. As such, even seven days are not sufficient, and one should take treatment as per prescription and according to their disease condition. Ideally it should not be less than ten days treatment in any genuine disease, except for detoxification program.
Why allopathic medicines are discouraged in this Institute when we are used to taking such medicines?
We believe in the principles of Nature that human body has sufficient capacity to avoid diseases from within. Along with yoga and naturopathic treatments, any types of medicines particularly Allopathic are discouraged. However, those patients, who are medicine dependents, can consume them as per guidance of our doctors, who under their careful observation will taper such medicines and ultimately make them lead a healthy life without medicines.
Fasting is one of the frightening treatments here? Is it necessary?
Therapeutic fasting is not starvation. Fasting is a constructive treatment which helps to excrete harmful toxins that cause disease in the body. Actually nobody feels weak while fasting; it is the thought of fasting makes you weak. Off-course, the first two days of fast are bit difficult as the body has to tune its system. From the third day onwards, in most of the cases, changes take place and the body starts using stored fat for its energy needs.
Is Auto-Urine-Therapy compulsory at Anandkunj?
Auto-Urine Therapy which is traditionally known as Amroli or Shivambu Kalpa Vidhi in ancient yoga and ayurveda is not compulsory to anyone and in-fact all treatments at Anandkunj are optional and every patient has freedom of choice. Nevertheless since we have pioneering expertise and vast experience of successfully treating various chronic conditions with the integrated use of this therapy we enthusiastically encourage its use.
Is Anandkunj only meant for weight reduction?
At Anandkunj patients come here for both weight reduction as well as for weight gain. Various naturopathic and yogic treatments help to improve digestive and assimilative capacity leading further for weight gain and stable physical constitution.
How much time does it require just to detoxify the system? To cure a disease, generally how much time is required?
If there are no chronic conditions and severe symptoms of diseases, ten days are sufficient to detoxify the system. It is not possible to cure the longstanding diseases within a short period of ten days. Depending upon the condition of the patient, his symptoms, vitality etc it may take anytime between 15- 40 days. Holistic healing is not a miracle. A chronic disease takes its own time to show up all its classical symptoms. Body has to be given sufficient time to recuperate from the damage caused.
Are you supplying safe water?
Yes, the water supplied for drinking purposes is treated as per the standards of Public Health Department. We have supply of water from the river as well as from bore well. The samples are tested in laboratories on regular intervals in order to maintain the quality of water. The bottled water is also provided as per demand at extra charges.
Questions regarding Diet and Nutrition
Why are you strict with diet & everything in the campus?
Naturopathy and Yoga are way of life. It is not we, but Natural principles demands strictness. Yoga and Naturopathy believes in a highly disciplined way of living and discipline cannot be achieved without being strict and firm. In fact, it is the strictness & discipline which we consider as significant aspect of our therapy. All these are made only in the interest of the patients and their well being. We hope you will understand and co-operate.
Why tea, coffee, smoking, tobacco, alcohol are stopped abruptly instead of tapering?
Poison is always poisonous, and once you know it is slow poison it should be stopped then and there. Tea, coffee, smoking, tobacco, alcohol are not the basic needs of the human body such as food and sleep but are the acquired habits. On the path of health we must remove all the hurdles as early as possible.
Do you demonstrate the preparations of food to your patients?
Yes, our Dieticians give demonstration of the preparation of food, juices, salads and other varieties once in a week at Diet Centre so that it helps the patients to prepare the same at home.

Yes at Anandkunj we have 30 acres of land where the facilities are available to organically cultivate various types of vegetables, fruits and grains. Also we have a dairy farm with breed of traditional Indian cows.
What are the main benefits of integrative holistic medicine?
The main benefits of holistic medicine are:
- The central role of the patient’s lifestyle, beliefs, observations and habits is honored. Holistic medicine recognizes the person who has the illness as more important than the type of illness that person is manifesting.
- Treatment methods which are least likely to do harm are used first in holistic medicine. These are often also more cost-effective than conventional drugs or surgery.
- Holistic medicine endeavors to achieve societal change through respect for the individual and for the contribution of diversity to an integrative model of healing. Healing must take place on all levels – individual, social, cultural and planetary – for the survival, as well as the happiness, of life on earth.
Who is integrative holistic physician?
An integrative holistic physician:
- Views the patient as being ultimately responsible for his/her well-being
- Takes a “whole-person” approach to treatment
- Believes in and practices “The Ten Principles of Integrative Holistic Medicine”
- Fosters and maintains a partnership with the patient, using therapies which both feel comfortable with and are effective.
- Evaluates and recommends treatment options that address the cause of an illness, as well as the symptoms.
- The holistic physician may choose or recommend from a variety of both conventional and “alternative and/or complementary” treatments and therapies. Together, the physician and patient work to develop an optimal course of treatment. This partnership is a powerful approach to healing and is the cornerstone of the holistic philosophy.
What is an integrative holistic approach?
Most holistic physicians and practitioners begin with a thorough evaluation of patient’s diet, exercise habits, health history, occupation, family and life history and current circumstances. Since each person is unique, the development of a treatment program is also individualized by the physician or practitioner.
What is patient’s role in an integrative holistic treatment approach?
Accepting responsibility for your lifestyle choices is important in working with a holistic physician/practitioner. Illness can be seen as a messenger – an indication that one or more aspects of your life may be out of harmony. The holistic professional can serve as a guide to assist you in this process of self-evaluation.
How much will my holistic treatment cost?
Research has proven that the investment made in prevention, not only protects health, but is much less costly than the costs of chronic disease.
What is Naturopathy?
Naturopathy is a holistic approach to health care based on a belief in the healing power of nature. Naturopaths work closely with you to improve your health by making lifestyle such as improving your diet and reducing stress. They also employ alternative therapies, including herbal remedies and hands–on techniques such as massage to stimulate your body’s ability to heal itself.
Is Naturopathy evidence based medicine?
There are countless studies that demonstrate the efficacy of natural therapies. The Journal of Naturopathic Medicine, Alternative Medicine Review, and the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition are some of the many journals devoted to reporting scientific studies done on natural therapies, herbal medicines and vitamin, mineral therapy. All told, over 40 scientific journals worldwide are devoted to reporting current research in clinical nutrition. Moreover, the Textbook of Natural Medicine cites over 5000 references from the conventional biomedical literature that support naturopathic theory and practice. Bastyr University, an accredited naturopathic medical school, is a leading research center for natural medicine in America. In India, Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy (CCRYN), New Delhi and National Institute of Naturopathy (NIN) are two autonomous government agencies primarily working for research and development.
What does treatment involve?
During your first visit, a naturopath will spend an hour or two interviewing about your diet, sleep patterns, and emotional state, as well as the symptoms of any health problems you may be having. He or she may use the same diagnostic tools as conventional physicians, including x–rays and blood and urine tests when appropriate. Some naturopaths may also prescribe drugs and perform minor surgery, but they primarily rely on “Natural means” to treat illness. Typically, they’ll suggest you to take certain herbs, vitamins, or other supplements to address a nutritional imbalance. Or they may ask you to fast or to remove certain food groups from your diet to determine if food allergies are causing your symptoms. Finally, they may recommend stress reduction techniques like biofeedback, meditation, massage or a set of natural treatments.
How is Naturopathic Medicine different from conventional medicine?
The main difference is in philosophical approach. Doctors of Naturopathic Medicine help people by restoring overall health rather than suppressing a few key symptoms. Naturopaths are more concerned with finding the underlying cause of a condition and applying treatments that work in alliance with the natural healing mechanism of the body rather than against it. Naturopathic treatments result less frequently in adverse side effects, or in chronic conditions that arise when the cause of a disease is left untreated. Naturopath takes more time with a patient and takes a more comprehensive approach to help the individual.
What can Naturopathic Medicine do for you?
Naturopathic medicine treats all forms of health concerns – from pediatric to geriatric, from acute to chronic illness and from the physical to the psychological. Naturopathic medicine is beneficial for the following types of patients:
- Patients that are looking for disease prevention and health promotion strategies.
- Patients that have a range of symptoms that they have been unable to address on their own or with the help of other medical professionals.
- Patients that have been diagnosed with an illness, often serious or chronic and are looking for alternative treatments. Naturopathic medicine is very effective for improving quality of life for those with serious and life threatening illnesses.
- Patients that are looking to combine conventional and naturopathic treatments with the aim of minimizing side effects of drugs, surgery or conventional treatments.
Do Naturopathy treatments have any side effects?
Normally Naturopathy treatments do not have any side effects. But sometimes, certain treatments taken without consulting a qualified doctor might cause some discomfort. However, Naturopathy treatments normally have many side benefits. While taking treatment for a particular medical condition, one realizes benefits in other conditions as well because Naturopathy treats whole body and mind.
